Shade Structure - Design and Construction

The Client recently had a very large shade tree removed due to physical decline and disease.  Although new shade trees have been planted, it will be many years until the outdoor deck area will benefit from their shade.  In the interim, it was decided that a shade structure would be constructed over the existing deck.  The structure is oriented to cut two thirds of the direct sunlight during the summer months.  As the structure is constructed of red cedar, no chemicals, stains or waterproofing need be applied.
